Arabic Courses

The Language Institute offers general Arabic courses which consist of lessons to develop basic language skills, create suitable environment for practising what learners have grasped in the classroom.

General Objectives:


The general objective of the Language Institute is to bring learners’ knowledge of Arabic to a semi-medium level of proficiency that enables them do the following:

1. Gain a general understanding of the non-specialised Arabic variety of simple structures.
2. Easily express needs in daily life situations with a medium level of correct pronunciation and grammar.
3. Achieve a reasonable level of writing using the Arabic alphabet.
4. Develop fundamental language learning skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) through lessons.

Method:

The Institute uses the Arabic learning method series, which has been developed exclusively for the Institute. The method series includes:

  • Learning Arabic (Part 1), level 1.
  • Learning Arabic (Part 2), level 2.
  • Learning Arabic (Part 3), level 3.
  • Homework book (part 1 & 2).
  • Language laboratory exercises book (part 1 & 2).
  • Handwriting book.
  • Dictionary.

The Department of Arabic conducts other courses either at its premises or elsewhere in coordination with the Director of the Institute.

Class Schedule

Class times are estimates only, and can change from term to term.

Beginner's (Women)

Sunday: 3.30 - 6.15
Monday: 3.30 - 6.45
Wednesday: 3.30 - 6.45

Beginner's (Men)

Sunday: 6.30 - 9.15
Tuesday: 6.00 - 9.15
Wednesday: 6.30 - 9.15

Other Levels (Mixed)

5.00 - 8.30 (Twice a week)
